    in wood and wild, ye warbling throng,

    your heavy loss deplore;

    now, half extinct your powers of song,

    sweet echo is no more.

    ye jarring, screeg things around,

    scream your discordant joys;

    now, half your din of tuneless sound

    with echo silent lies.
